Hi! I began my educational career with F1S schools 29 years ago and began my first year of teaching at McLaurin. I taught Special Education for 9 years, Lower Elementary Montessori for 15 years, and was McLaurin's Curriculum Coordinator for 2 years. In 2020, I began as one of the Assistant Principals at McLaurin. I am certified in Special Education, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Primary Montessori (ages 3-5), Lower Montessori (ages 6-9), and Upper Montessori (ages 9-12).

I am married to Jeremy and we have a daughter, Lilly, and son, Freeman. When not at McLaurin or soaking in Montessori, I enjoy time at church, time with family and friends, reading, and going to the beach.

I look forward to working even more with our primary students; helping and encouraging teachers and staff; and providing information to help our wonderful parents at McLaurin. I look forward to continuing to build and strengthen relationships with all to help our children at McLaurin soar.

Mrs. Thayer

Hi! My name is Cherisse Thayer, and I am honored to begin my second year serving as one of the Assistant Principals at McLaurin Elementary. This is my 9th year as an educator in F1S. My previous experience in F1S includes teaching 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, and serving as a Literacy Coach. Prior to coming to F1S, I taught 7th grade Remedial Reading and 8th grade ELA at Manning Junior High School.

I love to learn, and try to live by Maya Angelou’s quote, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

I look forward to serving our McLaurin community, and to getting to see everyone back face to face at school this year!
